Construyendo Puentes
We bridge academic research and public understanding by making complex information more accessible, culturally responsive, and useful for Spanish-speaking communities and the partners who serve them.
Overview
Research and outreach often fail to reach communities when language access, policy complexity, and institutional barriers get in the way. Construyendo Puentes helps turn academic work into clear, culturally meaningful, and actionable information.
Inaccessible Policy Research
Technical and academic language can make important findings hard to use outside the classroom or journal article.
Research Serving Communities
Knowledge should be useful to the people it affects, not only to academic audiences.
Language Access
Spanish-language support helps close gaps in understanding, participation, and trust.
Plain-Language Translation
Clear summaries and translated materials expand access and engagement without losing meaning.
Who We Serve
Construyendo Puentes serves Spanish-speaking communities, particularly Latino/a populations, who are often the subjects of academic research but are excluded from accessing it because of language and technical barriers. This includes immigrant communities, first- and second-generation individuals, and Spanish speakers across diverse regional and cultural backgrounds.
These communities are not monolithic. Differences in country of origin, immigration experiences, educational attainment, and regional language variations shape how information is understood and accessed. Construyendo Puentes works to meet communities where they are so knowledge is not only translated, but culturally and contextually meaningful.
We also serve students, researchers, and co ::contentReference[oaicite:3]{index=3} mmunity organizations seeking to make knowledge more equitable, ethical, and accessible.
The Value We Provide
We believe research about communities should be accessible to those communities. Construyendo Puentes closes the gap between academic knowledge and public understanding by making research more inclusive, understandable, and actionable.
By translating and simplifying complex academic work, we ensure that language is not a barrier to information, empowerment, or participation.
